Signs Your Child Is Ready to Start Preschool

When your child is around three years old, you may be wondering if they are ready to finish daycare in Ohio and start preschool. While many 3-year-olds do well in preschool, some may need a bit more time to gain the skills they need. Children develop at different rates, so it can be challenging to determine the right time. Likewise, we will share the signs your child is ready to start preschool:

  • Your child is potty-trained.

While not all preschools require children to be toilet-trained, most providers expect kids to be out of their diapers. While experienced staff are available to help kids with washing up or if they have an accident. They may expect your child to know when to use the bathroom and how to pull up their pants and wash up after.

  • Your child is independent.

Kids ages 3 and 4 are not expected to do everything on their own. However, child development in Ohio at this age means they are able to spend time away from their parents. By the start of preschool, most children know how to feed themselves and find their way around the classroom.

  • Your child can follow directions.

The ability to concentrate is different in a preschooler than in older kids and will vary from one child to another. Most preschool-ready kids can pay attention and concentrate. We nurture our young learners’ love for nature and learning through various activities. Hence, children should be able to follow along.
